Installing Google Cloud SDK on Ubuntu

Follow these steps if you need to install Google Cloud SDK on Ubuntu Server.

Check your Ubuntu Version (Optional)

uname -a

First Step is to add Google Cloud SDK package source

echo “deb [signed-by=/usr/share/keyrings/cloud.google.gpg] http://packages.cloud.google.com/apt cloud-sdk main” | sudo tee -a /etc/apt/sources.list.d/google-cloud-sdk.list

Then obtain the Google Cloud Platform key

curl https://packages.cloud.google.com/apt/doc/apt-key.gpg | sudo apt-key –keyring /usr/share/keyrings/cloud.google.gpg add –

Install the Google Cloud SDK

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install google-cloud-sdk

Packages will be read, and you will be asked for the confirmation to Install. Press ‘y’ to proceed.

Press ‘y’ again when prompted.

Download and Installation will complete.

Before we start using the Google Cloud SDK, we need to initialize it and authenticate with the Google Cloud Account.

gcloud init

Copy the URL and authenticate with your Google Cloud Login account.

Allow Google SDK to manage your Google Cloud Account.Copy the verification code, paste it in the command Window and press enter. Select your default project and you are good to go.

Check the Installation and Configuration.

gcloud info

Start using Google Cloud SDK.

gcloud help compute instances create
